Upside Down
The Upside down series was originally born to be a collection of rugs. Though the beauty of the artworks convinces Kosta to leave them on the paper.
The inspiration is in creating geometric compositions which can be read differently when looking at them from the two different sides: this creates a fun game because each side shows different shapes still recognizable as objects or features. The subjects of these artworks are all about the future: conquest of space and robots are the main themes of this series. This series features one of Kosta’s favorite animals: cats.
Cats are an important part of Cypriot culture: the mythology says that St Helena brought with her cats to the island of Cyprus and left them free to conquer the island. Today Cyprus is the land of a million cats so they belong to the everyday life of any Cypriot. Kosta’s cats in this series are robotic and futuristic as well.
