Himalayan Cafe Series

Pochara Lake, Nepal, 2012

Himalayan Cafe

Himalayan cafe series is a collection of 18 artworks inspired by the stunning Pokhara lake in Nepal.

The lake is situated just at the base of Tibet and it’s a magical land where Hindu and Buddhist meet and leave peacefully. The many Buddhist temples in the area have fascinated Kosta as well as the lake which changes its colors and appearance during the different seasons coloring the surrounding world in different moods.

Kosta wanted to frame these moments and these memories in a series of art pieces where everything talks about the local culture and nature.

The 18 artworks are square like the rugs used by the monks to meditate. They feature geometric shapes of bright colors like blue of the sky, green of the mountains, gray as the water during winter and red, burgundy and orange as the monks' robes.

All the pieces of the collection are thought to have a continuity and one is the complement of the other as well as all the seasons move on a dynamic circle being constantly connected .
